In Moscow, is it Victory Day or Victory Day?

Victory Day is an annual celebration of Russia's military might that commemorates the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany, a former Soviet ally.

Putin will use the event's symbolism and emotion to paint Ukraine and the West as Russia's new Nazi threat. 

He'll almost certainly declare a general mobilization, which will allow for the recruitment of hundreds of thousands of reservists and put the economy on a war footing.

With almost 20,000 Russian soldiers killed and tens of thousands of pieces of military materiel destroyed, maintaining a high-intensity attack requires mobilization. 

However, in a fast decreasing economy, such a step is unlikely to yield immediate results.

Russia's reservists are ill-equipped and unmotivated to fight in a hostile environment, and the growing number of military casualties in Ukraine .
