MISS FARMER’S CHOCOLATE CREAM CANDY

  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 2/3 cup of milk
  • 1 TBS. of butter
  • 2 squares of chocolate
  • 1 tsp. of vanilla

Heat butter in saucepan; when melted add sugar and milk. Heat to boiling point; then add chocolate, and stir constantly until chocolate is melted. Boil thirteen minutes, remove from fire, add vanilla, and beat until creamy and mixture begins to sugar slightly around edge of saucepan. Pour at once into a buttered pan, cool slightly and mark in squares.  *Can omit vanilla, and while cooking add 1/4 teaspoonful of cinnamon.

Old-Fashioned Chocolate Christmas Candy

  • One cup of molasses
  • Two cups of sugar
  • One cup of milk
  • One-half pound of chocolate
  • 2 TBS. Butter

Instructions:

Boil the milk and molasses together, grate the chocolate fine, and mix with just enough of the boiling milk and molasses to moisten; stir until perfectly smooth.  Next, stir the sugar into the boiling liquid; add the butter, and boil twenty minutes. Try as molasses candy, and if it hardens, pour into a buttered dish. Cut into desired portions.
